louvered slots on side of AG-AC160 at DVinfo.net

Next to the battery and ac connector area on the right side are a series of a few slots. They take up a couple of inches. Do these have any purpose?? I was wanting to put a strip of velcro across these to hold a wireless mic receiver. This would seal or close the slits.

Is this a problem?

Yep. 'Do not block any ventilation openings, front side and rear'
