dealing with no expanded focus
I came moments away from buying the af100 after much research and comparisons and videos. I then noted that the unit, unlike my previous hmc-150, does not have expanded focus. I came to rely on this function over the three years I used the 150.
Is there a work around? Also, I wanted to use the atomos ninja but it only has hdmi. Will the af100 transmit to ninja with timecode? The Samurai is 600 bucks more. Was enticed by the elusive BMCC. Have a new project starting 11/15, I have little confidence it will actually be available by then. Any help with these matters will be much appreciated. |

Re: dealing with no expanded focus
Cheapest workaround is using the EVF in B&W with FA (focus peaking in red) engaged.
Best workaround is to augment the AF with a good on-camera EVF or monitor with focus aids. The AF will send TC via HDMI; SDI is far more secure, of course. |

Re: dealing with no expanded focus
Thanks Kevin. I've decided to go with the af 100. Think I will start with the Lumix vario 12-35hd lens...maybe a Samurai down the road, when they work the reported bugs out....
