wide angle lens for HMC-150
Do any of you use a wide angle lens adapter for the HMC150? I'm considering one but I realize the original lens is already quite wide. And I'm worried about barrel distortion. Do you have any recommendation for WA lens adapters with minimal barrel distortion? I'm considering:

Hmm, I guess not many people use a wide angle lens adapter for the HMC-150.

It has a very wide lens anyway.
Even doing weddings in small houses and rooms I've never felt the need for a wider angle. Cheers, Vaughan |

Hi Gregory,
I use two adapters with the HMC150, a .6 and .4. Here is a review I did. Von Real I see you are in Norman. We are over in Tulsa. Small world. What kinds of videos do you produce? |

Re: wide angle lens for HMC-150
Century Optics are very nice (and expensive) lenses. I used to use one with my DVX-100. If I get one with the HMC-150, I'm hoping that the 72 mm bayonet mount would be compatible with future camcorders if I upgrade. But I noticed there are a number of different brands out there, many of which are a lot cheaper. Since barrel distortion is inevitable, I might try one of the cheaper brands and if I don't like it, I'll return it. Something tells me, I'll probably get blurry edges and vignetting :(
Thanks for the video reviews though. (btw, I'm surprised the 1.6x telephoto has that much vignetting on the Century Optics) |

Re: wide angle lens for HMC-150
Hi Gregory,
You are welcome. Boomer Sooner! When I shot in SD I used $100-150 wide angle and fisheye lenses, but when I went to HD, I bit the bullet and went for more expensive glass since HD has higher resolution. One of my shooters had a wedding over in Norman just last weekend. |
