HMC80 XLR levels are low!!
Hi All
I upgraded both my HMC70 cameras to HMC80's (actually 72 to 82 as we are PAL) I have noticed that the XLR levels are WAY lower than the 70 levels. I used to run my Azden receivers into Channel 2 and would have to set the manual level down at around "3" AND had to switch-in the -20db attenuation!! The 80's only have a menu driven -50db or -60db setting and the receiver is fine but the output to the cam is a fair bit lower (I can set to -50 or -60 and crank the level to mid-way without any red in the level meter!! I use Rode VideoMics on both cams set at 0db in the mic and if you switch to ALC the output level is miserably low compared to the 70??? At wedding receptions I needed to switch the -20db attenuation in so the audio wasn't completely blown out!!! Now even with a full PA system with music on ALC the levels never kick into the red at all??? Anyone notice this??? I would have thought that Panasonic would have retained the audio section as it was in the HMC 70??? Is there any other audio settings I have missed or do I have to look at running my VideoMics in manual all the time to get a decent level unless the music is really loud??? Chris |
