The BVE show at Earls Court, 15 / 16 / 17 Feb

Guys,

I'm still on the fence regarding this camera, but my interest is peaked. I'm attending the Broadcast show expo event at Earls Court early next week (which is the biggest annual video expo event in UK) and was wondering if there'd be any interest here in me recording a demo at Panny's stand regarding this camera?

If so, I'll bring along my trusty 5D2 and Merlin for a visit.

Hi Kris,

Just so as you know.... (I registered to go a while back and remembered reading this) but you cannot film at BVE without prior permission.

Pity really as there will be many nice "toys" to look at!

EDIT: On the front page of the main BVE website it states what's below. [ I have nothing to do with the organsising of this event - just passing the information on - so don't shoot the messenger! ]

1. We are unable to admit anyone under 18 years of age.
2. All visitors must co-operate with the security team and all bags are liable to security searches.
3. Any equipment brought into the show i.e. laptops, cameras must be registered at the Information Desk.
4. Please retain receipts for any equipment purchased, as proof of purchase will be required when leaving the event.
5. Name badges must be worn at all times.
6. Filming / photography is not permitted unless prior consent has been obtained from the organisers.

I should be visiting Wednesday and meeting someone there that I need to catch up with. I'll most likely be hovering around Panasonic, Sony and Canon stands (or the bar...!)

Andy,

Aware of the permission issues. You are correct, it is necessary to have permission ahead of shooting at the show, fortunately I have a verbal agreement already, just trying to pin down a written one before I attend!

Andy,

You have nothing to fear.

Attended the BVE today and it was great, really enjoyed it. Wish I had brought my Steadicam now as there were plenty of people filming demos that weren't press and no body was stopping them. I didn't manage to get the written permission, but they told me it was fine to film (I was never challenged).

Had my first chance to really look at the AF-101 (there were several demo stands to experience the cam). The Panny stand was quite large showing off their £16,000 3D steroscopic cams. But most people were hovering around the AF-101. Think they had their work cut out for them with the interest.

A couple of stands selling them, although all are pre-order as they've sold out. Preston Media are doing a good show deal package. They're getting 30 of them in next week, my name is down!

Got a chance to try out the Steadicam Pilot with the AF-101 too, feels a very nice duo.

Was a very good show and I'll be putting together a short piece on it.
