Panasonic HMC 40 problems
I have a HMC 40 video camera with a XLR adapter box. I have been shooting and recording audio with my shotgun mic connected to #2 input using channels 1 & 2 for the past 2 months. Today I just tried to use the #1 input with channel 1 and all I get is the level bar moving with no audio to my head phones. I have done everything I can think of and even called Panasonic in Canada and talked their techs. Came up with zero and they recommended I send in both the camera and the XLR adapter box for repairs. I was wondering if any one had the same problem? Am I missing something? I just hate to be camera-less for the next month.
Thanks in advance to all who will answer, Brandon |

Not sure why you called their Tech in Canada did they not have one here?
Is phantom power switched on if it's a condenser mic? What I can say is that I had to send mine into them for a repair and they were pretty fast, I was without cam fro like just under 2 weeks. Their shop was in Kansas I believe. Hope you figure it out! |

Panasonic HMC 40 problems
Thanks Paul ....Panasonic is based in canada not usa. I did talk to the guy in Ks. and he said in the US it is east and west coast thing and Texas is west coast in LA. Also as noted I tried everything even what you just surgested (asked about...+48v phantom switch). I am new to video cams but not my 1st rodeo.....LOL.

If the level meter is showing that audio is being recorded on channel 1, but the headphones aren't playing it, look in the "other functions" menu, on page 4, for "audio out" -- make sure you don't have it set to CH2, or it'll only play whatever's on channel 2 out the headphones.
