AVCHD footage and FCP

I dont really use Final Cut Pro but I have it. I thought id give it a shot with my new footage from my new AG-HMC 150s. I have a stream folder on my desktop but when I try and bring the files into FCP via the log and transfer tool I get a unsupported file error. Can I use this footage with FCP? Do I need a 3rd party converter?

You need to have the entire PRIVATE folder, not just the STREAM folder, for FCP's "Log & Transfer" function to work.
