Capturing & transcoding AVCHD footage from HMC150 on a Mac..?
Ok so after thinking about it a little.. here's what would be awesome IMO for editing Same Day Edits using this camera.. some thing that work similar to the log an transfer function in FCP but isn't part of FCP.. basically, an app that lets me scan thru long clips(say a full wedding ceremony) and just export and transcode short clips (like the vows) from that in a batch. This way I can be working in FCP while the transcoding is taking place. It needs to be batched so I can go thru and set all my ins and outs then just hit export and move to FCP for editing previously converted footage. Is there something like this out there? Is it iMovie? I don't have the latest version but I read a review touting about it's scanning and rough cutting abilities... I think it was over at Ken Stones site..
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Scott |

iMovie '09 can do this. You can export to FCP XML and reconnect to your clips in FCP. However to the best of my knowledge iMovie '09 does not support 24p footage.
Ripple Training has a video piece on this. It's not free (8 bucks) iMovie Rough Cutting for Final Cut Pro -paul. |
