Anybody has a HMC + Pany TV combo?
Hi all,
I am really interested in the 150 but I am also looking for a new television set/monitor. I was wondering if there was a compatibility between the two and here's what a Pany rep had to say: ** Thank you for your e-mail. Please be advised that our 2009 LCD models do not have AVCHD/MPEG2 capabilities; this feature is only available on our upcoming V10 and Z1 series Plasmas, and our current G10 series Plasmas. ** Anybody then has a G10/HMC-150 combo that can relate his experience? Thanks, Phil |

I can confirm that the Panasonic TH-50PZ800U will not play the HMC-150 files off the SDHC card no matter how you put them on there. The G10 is the replacement (sort of) to the 50PZ800U. One of the bummers to the G10 and all the 2010 Panasonics design it the SDHC slot is on the back of the unit so that it is not an easy reach like on the lower front of the 2009s. It's not even possible if the set is recessed or in a cabinet.
If the G10 plays the native files, that would be cool. Supposedly the Panasonic BD players play the HMC-150 content off the SDHC slot they have, but I don't have a Panasonic BD player (yet). So the Panasonic BD player is an option for playback. Edit: Best Buys have the G10 mounted on the display wall. Can you test one for us?

Another option is the Western Digital TV media player. It will play the .MTS files right off the SDHC card plugged into the unit via a card reader(With the current firmware upgrade). Just picked one up for $99 @ BestBuy.
Has standard HDMI/optical/composite outputs and 2 USB inputs. |
