Matching the HMC150 to a Sony
I know some videographers are shooting with the HMC150 and a Sony FX1000 or Z5. I have a Scene File for the HMC150 that should make it look more like the Sony. Maybe it would be better to have a Picture Profile to make the Sony look more like the Panny, but this is what I have.
If any FX1000/Z5 shooters would like to try it out, I would like to know the results. Even better, if you have a Picture Profile to make the Sony look more like the Panny, please share it. Set the HMC150 to Scene File 1 and change the following. Detail Coring +1 Color Temp Ach +1 Color Temp Bch +1 Master Ped -2 (+2 Outdoors) A. Iris Level +1 (-1 Outdoors) Gamma Cine-Like V Matrix Cine-Like |

Hi Tom,
No, but I have an HV20. I sometimes use it as a fourth camera at outdoor ceremonies or when the lighting is bright enough. |

Hey Mark,
off subject, but when I try to do a four cam multicam in FCP, the timeline gives me the red line requiring rendering. Of course if I render I cannot multicam. Three cams work fine. Have you ever hit this? |

I was working with mine today based on Mark's settings. I found they were too green.
Here are mine: detail coring +1 color temp Ach 0 color temp Bch +2 master ped -2 A. Iris level +1 gamma HD Standard (found Cine V way too noisey, even outside) Matrix Cine like I was matching to my EX1, had both cams hooked up to my Sony Bravia, and I felt they were really close. Let us know what you find. |

What kinds of problems? Does that mean if I fail to format a new SDHC card with the 150 that I could lose the footage?

Hi Dana,
From what I have read, yes, if you do not format the card, you will not be able to retrieve all of the footage. |

That's a scary consequence for forgetting to perform a menu operation that is not even prompted by the camera when a new card is used. I've been researching these cams for months, and am surprised that their isn't a HUGE warning from Panasonic.
I would imagine that Dazzle could come to the rescue with the plugs on the 150, so that if you could play the footage on the camera you could capture it as well. Thanks for the heads up, and for your excellent article on the 150 vs the Z1. |
