Poor man's HD
Got a brand spanking new LT3780 Mitsubishi display (1920x1080 native) at a price I just couldn't refuse ($500)... but without the HD-4001 receiver. So now I am looking into ways of routing all my SD and off-air HDTV signals into this baby. The display has two inputs, an HDMI and a VGA.
I found the Philips DVDR-3400 DVD recorder with NTSC tuner and HDMI output, so that would cover SD DVD and VCR playback, SD firewire (DV) and regular cable/antenna signals. For off-air HDTV reception there is a Samsung DTB-H260F receiver out there (both of these at BestBuy, around $170/piece) also with HDMI output. HDV firewire will follow once I upgrade my computer with a more performant video card. My question is: does anyone know of a better solution? If you do, please chime in! Thanks, |
