24fps if black and white
I want to shoot a black and white movie on digital. I am wondering if technically it was possible to get real 24fps footage out of a 24p camera. You might say well yeah duh it is but my real question is if I can get 24 not 23.976 fps. As far as I understand the reason for 23.976, 29.97, and 59.94 is because of the color subsignal in TV. Pal is in real 25 and real 50 fps. I don’t need to actually shoot in 24fps I am just wondering if it is possible.

Thats a really good question. I may be wrong, but I'm going to say this anyway.
Why not just drop the footage in a 24p timeline rather than a 23.97 timeline. From what I understand, all the timeline is doing is removing a frame every so often when you go 23.97. Though, it seems to me that there is no loss or benefit either way you go other than the fact that straight 24p might be incompatible with certain things. |

Why don't you try converting the project to 24p after you've edited it?
