wide angle lense adapter rings
i have a 88mm lense and a 72mm wide angle adapter that i want to use together..everything is compatable (chip sizes,etc).. is there a ring adapter or step up ring or step down ring or whatever they want to call them, that will make this work???? i can not seem to find that combination ring adapter anywhere...it does not matter if it is a rear-threaded or clamp on type..thanks

Are you trying to take your camera's 88mm front thread and step it down to accept a 72mm thread on the back of a wide angle adaptor? While you can get from almost anything to anything else with one or more rings, you may find in the case of the "step down" that the adaptor will vignette or cut the corners or sides of the image you see in the camera. Try just holding the adaptor in front and check wide angle coverage before spending money!
On the other hand if your wide angle adaptor is an over-size 88mm back thread, you will probably be happy mounting that on your 72mm front thread lens. Look for "step up" and "step down" rings on a good camera store site. Just be careful to start with a male thread on the camera thread and end up with a female on the adaptor side. |
