Can a 1-CCD play back 4-track?

With all this talk about using a single chipper as playback deck. My question is can you still capture 4-track recorded on XL-1 off some non-XL1 h/w?

The audio has nothing to do with the number of CCDs. So, the answer is: you will still be able to play/capture 4 channels of audio.
