I agree as well - whoever fathomed the idea of bottom loading tape drives deserves to be punished for it. That and the touch screen which really makes a camera irritating to use.

In terms of cmos vs 3CCD, I really haven't used any cmos based video cameras, but professional still cameras from Canon use them and the pictures from them are really good, so I'm pretty sure they have the potential without needing 3CCDs.

As I've mentioned in other posts, I really would love a new version of the GL2. If I don't see anything within 2 weeks, I'll be buying an XL2, not that there's anything wrong with it, in fact, I love it but I wouldn't mind a less expensive HD version.
