underwater footage

I am building an underwater housing for the xl-1. Has anyone shot footage with this camera underwater?

Housing

I shot with a EWA Marine VXL underwater housing and i found it a difficult camera to shoot underwater with but was able to eventually get some nice footage once I go t use to my system. BTW: I live in a desert so I am looking to sell my housing.

Very Interesting!

Hello riofilms!

As a marine biologist and avid underwater photographer who is just getting familiar with using his XL-1s, I am very interested in your project. In fact, I have contemplated building a housing myself, but haven't had time to get serious yet. I hope you don't mind if I ask some questions:

- What materials and general design are you using?
- How will you implement camera controls?
- How will you deal with the optics?

I'm looking forward to finding out more about your project...

Cheers,

Ron

Weird, isn't it?

Well, I grew up here, and after studying marine biology in the US, I returned to my land-locked home country ...and sort-of got stuck here, as it happened.

But eventually, I'm planning to continue my studies somewhere in the tropics. But noone knows when that will be... For the time being, however, I'm very happy here, and have just started my own media solutions business.

Cheers,

Ron

Not so weird

Maybe you can find an Alpinist living on a tropical island and switch lives with them.
