Widescreen info at DVinfo.net

Hey everyone,

I've just recently started using 16:9. I shoot in 4:3 PAL and use a plugin to squeeze the footage in post, so no cropping is involved. The results are very pleasing but I have some questions.

1. On my footy, the top line seems to be irregular. I sometimes see this problem on channels such as the BBC, why does this happen?

2. Exporting to DVD - do I want to burn as an Anamorphic DVD? I'm guessing itll mostly be watched on 4:3 TV's.

Try http://www.bbc.co.uk/guidelines/deli...creen_book.pdf . The recommended approach for coping with mixed 4:3 and 16:9 is via 14:9 - see the booklet for reasons why.

do not understand the goal of shooting 4:3 to stretch then to 16:9 to watch then to 4:3 TV....
...except if you like shorty-wide people...
or perhaps the theme of your movie is "Dwarfs on wheel " ?

What do I need to do to preserve the look ive got on the clip shown here?

since you just want to preserve the ugly look of this video, do nothing.
just convert your video to normal DVD, people will have a 4:3 picture with a 16:9 band surrounded by black bars. Those with 16:9 TV will have the opportunity to use the zoom feature to get rid of the black borders.
but in my view, adding distorded 16:9 look to the already distorded fisheye is ok for few scene, but it is very boring on a complete movie.
