Lousy audio export

I have solved my video export problem thanks to all the help at this great forum.

However I now have an audio export problem. I am exporting the time line to DV tape and then to a vhs tape.

The sound when played thru the computer speakers on the timeline is excellent even the subtle sounds.

Now when I transfer to vhs tape the sound is tinny and you have to crank up the volume to even hear the spoken words and other important audio.

Any help would again be greatly appreciated.

how do you get clip to VHS ?
1394 to camera/deck then to VHS ?

is your VHS deck stereo (plug/unplug your cables)

are you running R & L channels into a Y that takes it down to mono input to VHS ??
