Wide angle and telephoto for pdx10?
I used to have a vx2000 and i bout a telephoto lens for it... The problem was that when i zoomed all the way out the corners of the frame were cut off by the lens (maybe had to do with the size of the lens??)... Now i have a pdx10 and i want to buy a wide andgle that dosent cut off the corners of the frame, is that possible and if so can anyone suggest a particular lens to buy? Thanks....

You shouldn't have that problem (which is called "vignetting") with most wide angle adaptors. Telephoto adaptors are another thing however. Unless you buy something designed for a much larger lens, they will all cut off the corners when you zoom out. The fact that they're magnifying the image makes this happen. For example, I have the Sony high grade 2x converter for my PDX-10 and it lets me zoom somewhere around halfway out before it vignettes. I never had that problem with a wide adaptor however.
But it's always a good idea to play it safe. When you get an adaptor, hook your camera up to a monitor which shows the whole video frame. Unfortunately, the camera's LCD screen and viewfinder do NOT show the whole frame, there's an area beyond what they show. If you don't have a monitor that will do this then shoot some video and capture it on your computer. When you view it in your editing program you should see the full frame and it may reveal some vignetting in the corners which you didn't see on the camera. |
