Digi Beta

Hey guys, in the pursuit to sell my movie one of the requirements is a copy in digibeta. I shot the movie with my XL-2 so its standard mini dv. Is digibeta the same resolution? Is it as simple as plugging into a deck and transfering from my NLE? I have never worked with this format before so any info would be great. thanks.

Digibeta is 720X486. The deck is somewhere around $40k and you will need a capture card and possibly a RAID array to handle outputting to tape. The easy way to get a digibeta copy done is to get the distributor to pay for it (rent a studio where they make the required dub).

another sort of easy way to get a digibeta ..

find a production/post house that has a digibeta deck and see what they charge to transfer from hard drive to digibeta ... you then find out what card they have ( decklink, avid, aja ) .. if they have a decklink with FCP - you then render out your project to their specs ( 720x486 using blackmagic 10bit 4:2:2 codec- QT- the codec is free at decklinks site) .. you then deliver it to them on a 1394 external drive ...
if they have avid = you use avid codec etc ...
