Upgrading MB and saving Files

I'm wanting to upgrade my system Feb or Mar 2006. New Motherboard, faster, Duel Processor etc. My problem this I have alot of editing files, editing software, etc. My OS is WinXP Pro. Is there anyway of changing motherboards and not have to reinstall Winxp Pro and then reinstall all the software with all the key codes for the software. I've done it before and it is a pain. I've heard that MS new OS "Vista" can go around that problem but I'm happy with XP Pro and don't want to change. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Harry
