MiniDV playback with digital passthru output
I have some MiniDV tapes recorded on a Sony TRV-30 camcorder in NTSC SD (480i).
I am looking for a playback solution that allows me to output the original (or at least close to original as possible) digital data over HDMI to another device - like a TV or AVR - for real time playback. The idea to offload the video processing (scale and chroma upconversion, deinterlacing) to a device of my choice. Any suggestions or advise ? The best I could come up with so far from my research is to just use a Canon HV20/30/40 camcorder as a playback-only device. It has hdmi but I am not sure if it will give me the least unprocessed output I am looking for, it probably converts the signal to 1080p before sending it out ? Thanks. |

Re: MiniDV playback with digital passthru output
I have an old Sony HC3E which will playback SD DV tapes out of the HDMI port. There is a menu option to convert all video to 1080i output. Not selecting this outputs the video in its native format, (in my case, 1080i/25).
I am sure that is an option on all HDV cameras. |
