Will this work for downloading

Hi to all
I am trying to download from my Sony TRV 950 to my HP computer that has HDMI on it would this work
Or if can recommend something else

Be careful with these. They sometimes have an on screen display that can't be turned off because it's cheap.

Your best solution is an Intensity Pro (non-4K).

Also, just because a computer has HDMI, doesn't mean it's an input.

it's a laptop with win 10 I wish I had a desktop but these laptops today come with nothing on them no CD / FireWire so you can't download from my Sony TRV 950

Unless the TRV has an HDMI OUTPUT, this wouldn't work.... it's been a while since I've dealt with tape (got some tapes I've been meaning to dump myself....), I understand the challenge. I haven't been able to find any firewire drivers for Win10 for the computers I have that have the option...

Actually, I'm at the point of taking some time to do a "tape dump" on a laptop that still has Win 7 and firewire on it! It'll be a hassle, but keeps the files in a digital format at least, so shouldn't lose quality (any adapter "solution" runs a risk of image degradation).
