Government Video Expo 2015

So I received an e-mail today for this conference coming up in December and decided to look into it a bit further. I did a search here on the forums and found a couple of old threads from a couple years ago, but no real information or details were found other than a couple people talking about going. I perused their website and found that it contains the usual marketing lingo but nothing that has really convinced me if this is a worthwhile endeavor for a small time video guy like myself.

The part that concerns me about this is the complete lack of informatoin detailing how much it costs, etc. I wasn't about to go through the registration process to see if they would finally share the prices at that time.

Has anybody attended this conference in the past couple years? Any reviews would be appreciated so I can decide if it's something to even bother with.
Very importantly, if you attended in the past, How much did it cost ?

Re: Government Video Expo 2015

The first step of the registration process identifies two choices: DC Post | Production Conference (costs money) and Free National Drone Show / GVExpo Exhibit Hall Pass (free) so it doesn't cost money unless you pay for the training conference. There will be over 160 exhibitors in the Exhibit Hall, ranging from manufacturers of equipment to integrators and value added resellers. Speaking from past experience having attended multiple times over the years, one can pick up a lot of information in a short period but with a significant amount of walking as it is held in the DC Convention Center which is huge. You will be added to e-mail marketing lists if you let them scan your badge.

Because it is the "government" Video Expo, there is a focus on expensive systems that government agencies have budget to purchase. I stopped going a few years back and these days would get more out of a visit to B&H in New York than the GVExpo. I may look to see if they have any training tracks for Final Cut Pro or Logic but I don't remember seeing those offered last year.

Hope that helps.

Re: Government Video Expo 2015

Thanks for the info Chip. Yes, I did notice that the exhibit hall access if free, but I'm interested in the Conference and the Training.... and would like to know how much it is for that. The website doesnt seem to communicate that information.
