Your Backup/Archival Setup?
Jut looking for ideas as I am thinking of changing my current backup/storage solution for 2015. I currently use a WD My Cloud 2TB with a WD My Book 2TB connected. Laptop and PC backup to the My Cloud, which in turn mirrors to the My Book. The original plan was to label the My Book 2014, purchase a new one, and I am ready for another year. I have learned that 2TB was not enough and I found myself occasionally deleting some stuff I knew I could live without. Since I will be upsizing to a total of 8TB, perhaps I am better off with a 2 bay NAS and "regular" hard drives? Pro's and con's both ways, what are all you guys/gals doing?

Re: Your Backup/Archival Setup?
I use a 6TB RAID 1 (striped) as my media drive. That gets backed up daily to a 4TB RAID 0 (mirrored) which gets backed up regularly to an external 4TB RAID 0.
I also do a regular backup to a couple of other hard drives, 1 of which I keep off-site. And I do a blu-ray backup of my media when I can be bothered. And of course a cloud backup; project files and media backups are also stored in Dropbox. |
