Synology Server on Mac OS X - Can someone explain the basics please?
Hi All,
Recently I purchased a Synology Server (DS1513+) with 20TB (WD 5X4TB drives). The server is set up, my login is sorted and I have checked the hard drives (all in working order). This is where the confusion sets in: upon purchasing a server, I thought I could just drag and drop folders of video content onto the server - as I would an external HDD. So... can anyone explain how I'm supposed to use the server? I have read that you need to mount folders? But I have no idea how to do that or what it causes to happen... Please help if at all possible.. I have to clear up my externals ready for two weddings I have soon... Thanks to anyone who can help! Craig |

Re: Synology Server on Mac OS X - Can someone explain the basics please?
Never mind, I've figured it out. After using the operating system through a browser and reading up online, there is no way to drag and drop a folder (as far as I can tell), so instead you login through the Finder window and then it's just like using a normal external hard drive - great.
Thanks anyways. This thread can now be closed. |
