Trew Audio for sound gear, if you're open to message boards (i.e. buying from other members) this board has folks selling stuff, as do "other boards".

Check out pawn shops near film schools. I've seen good stuff at the pawn shop next door to Full Sail in Orlando. If one is within driving distance, it might be worth the drive. You can physically examine the gear instead of just looking at pictures.

I've had superb experiences with keh.com for still camera and lenses. I'd rant about how well they've taken care of warranty issues but I'm on my phone. Two thumbs up.
