XLR connector and Canon XA-20 do like straight or angled better?
Just trying to get a quick opinion from someone who already has a Canon XA-20 and which type of XLR connector they have like best connecting to the camera. Is it better to use an angled XLR to the camera? I thought with an angle connector I might be able to leave it connected when I put it in my bag or is that a bad idea?

Re: XLR connector and Canon XA-20 do like straight or angled better?
It really depends on your bag. I have a straight XLR Plug going into the camera and leave the shotgun mounted. In fact I leave everything mounted. That way my camera is always ready to go. I just pull it out the bag, turn it on and begin shooting. I've configured my bag to do this.
However, I wouldn't want my bag taking a tumble though. If I was checking in at an airport it would be stripped down. I am considering about make a custom cable with a right angle XLR plug just long enough to work with as my current cable is 12” / 30cm which is a little too long for the XA20. A right angled XLR Plug would be a neat solution IMO :) |
