Waveform/Vectorscope tutorials

I am looking to purchase an Atomos Samurai Blade as an upgrade to my old tape based Panasonic HDC27H Varicam. The Prores is great, and the 1280x720 LCD is even better, but what is really interesting me is the waveform and vectorscope functions.

I have been playing with my settings for some time, to no real success. I am currently dealing with very noisy video even at 0db, and shared set-up files that are meant to be color corrected, and look soft and fuzzy. The footage obtained from my Varicam will almost always be quickly uploaded to the web, an don air broadcast within a few hours, so the time consuming process of color correcting is not an option.

Can anyone recommend a good video tutorial online or a good video series that can walk me through adjusting the key settings in my Panasonic HDC27H, HPX2000, and SPX800? I've had tremendous luck with my SPX800 just free wheeling settings and using the viewfinder to check results, but the Varicam's capabilities far exceed the simple ability to dial things up and down with any real success.

Basically, I am looking to master very sharp/crisp/colorful 720p footage, with low contrast that takes full advantage of the great dynamic range of the sensors. Thanks!

Paul
