IF you are lucky enough to get the drive recognized and you can either see files or at least see the drive, do as Chris says - IMMEDIATELY transfer everything you can.
If you can't see the files, you may need to use recovery software to pull the data off by letting it analyze the drive and give you a picture of what is there - had to pull data from damaged drives that way myself a few times... Once a drive is dying, if you ARE lucky enough to get it to come back, you don't wait... it can die completely at any time, so grab whatever you can as fast as you can! |
