Great ENG idea for those unhappy subjects

Just spotted something that A Current Affair in Australia has done. Looks like they have mounted an extra camera such as a GoPro on top of their ENG camera, up behind where the light is. That way when someone puts their hand over the lens to stop themselves being filmed, they've still got good usable footage.

Clever idea!!!

Here's a pic I snaffled off their footage.

Re: Great ENG idea for those unhappy subjects

Hi Andrew

My mate in the UK, Philip actually uses GoPros on the side of each of his EX1 Sony's !!! He had one instance (it was a hire camera) where the EX failed due to some firmware update and the GoPro saved the day!!

At weddings I hoist a GoPro before the ceremony on a tall light stand and let it run for 2 hours!! It does a semi-aerial shot of the ceremony and has saved my bacon many times when the Mother of the Bride has stood up in the aisle with her ample rear end virtually resting on my lens hood!! It's very comforting to know you have a backup that nobody can walk in front of!!!! (In Churches it's normally on the balcony)

For the price it should be in every videographers gear!! I don't always use the footage BUT it there if I want it!!

Now there's an idea, I wonder if I could mount a tazer above the ENG lens to zap those difficult subjects or the TOG? ;0)

The use of a taser is reserved for wedding photographers who get in the way.
