Unable to initialize capture Device

For some reason I am unable to initialize my camera to import my video. I have done this hundreds of times and I can not figure out why this is happening. I always shoot in HD so nothing has changed! A long time ago when I was learning a good teacher said sometimes I have to trick the program into reading the device....right now I am welcome to any trick that any one can offer.

If you are capturing via Firewire, try a different cable. If that doesn't work, try connecting to a different computer, to see if your firewire port is fried on the camera or computer .... it can get whacked if you hot-swap the cables and short something out....
