Pls Suggest a Digital Media Playback device for continuous Video on LCD TV?
Hi there,
A friend of mine has a restaurant and just bought at LCD TV (the Samsung P2570HD - has a full array of inputs) and would like to have it show video on a loop in the window of his restaurant. The question is, how can he do this? He doesn't want to keep a DVD player running as he's afraid it will burn out the player in no time (I told him not to worry about a $20 machine, but he ain't listening!) and would like to get a hard disk/flash based media player that can output into the LCD TV that isn't very expensive. I wonder if anyone has any suggestions for such a device? Thanks, Ronald |

I'm a big fan of the Western Digital TV HD players as they play back practically anything.
They connect via HDMI and they are nice and small, and you can probably just velcro the unit behind the TV. Of course it still has that little wall wart power supply. You can just stick a USB flash drive or portable hard drive into it and away you go. But for a restaurant, with the prices of Blu ray players under a hundred bucks [the LG ones even playback mpeg files off a DVD-ROM], it would give flexibility and just replace them after they break? |
