Defragmenting a RAID 5
Hello all
I am backing a load of stuff off my edit machine this week and when I've freed up some space and had a general tiny I want to defrag the RAID. I wondered if anyone has any advice on applications to do this, or whether I should use the built-in Windows defrag tool? The system is Windows 7 and the RAID is set to RAID 5 (3 physical disks). It think it's about 4Tb. Thanks in advance, /ben |

Re: Defragmenting a RAID 5
I hear alarm bells - I have a raid 5 and wouldn't let windows defrag within a mile of it. What makes you think it's fragmented? I'm pretty sure Raid 5 uses disk space in a completely different manner. Hopefully someone who really know what's going on can chip in. In the meantime - DON'T DO IT
