A question on protocol

I've been placed in a very interesting position tomorrow morning, that I would like some feedback on.

A month ago I shot a humanitarian awards program, presided over by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan. For our U.S. members, you really have no figure in your system that is even similar;
The Lieutenant Governors of each Province and the Governor General are Monarchist traditions since before Confederation; they are the representatives of the Queen, and are Vice-Regals, themselve.

Anyway, I digress. The Lieutenant Governor was presented an award by the Health Foundation that evening, and has been on display in another city ever since. The Foundation has asked me to present it to him on thier behalf.

I have no trouble doing so; I met him and spent a long while the evening of the banquest, shooting both stills and video of him. Hes a very pleasant, acoomodating gentleman, and I would LOVE to have a brief video clip of my presenting the award to him on my demo reel.

Do you think it "tacky" to ask?

I don't think it's tacky. If he's as nice a guy as you saay he should be up for it. Promise him a free copy, ply him with drink and a really good cigar and you should be all set. ;-)

I would definitely ask. If he knows you're a video guy I doubt he'll be surprised at the request. A figure head like that is most likely photographed all the time so it would be nothing new to him.

Re: A question on protocol

I am sure you will be fine with this and he will be more than happy to allow a video to be made, ask first though just out of courtesy but as a representative of the Queen he will be used to being photographed and doing these sort of things.

My late Son was given a shrievalty award this time last year and the High Sheriff of Durham the Queen's representative for this area could not have been kinder and talked as asked all the kids all sorts of things, they are greatly skilled at this and take great pride in being the Queen's spokesperson for events that she is unable to attend in person.
