Direct to Edit Cameras
I am going into production on a web-series, and I am looking for a good direct-to-edit camera to work with Final Cut.
I'm looking at the Sony AX2000, but FCP doesn't work cleanly with the XDCAM codec, you need to convert to prores through the log-and-transfer. Anyone have thoughts on a good camera that imports straight to final cut?

Re: Direct to Edit Cameras
The JVC GY-HM series cameras are designed for direct FCP edit....the new 750 model is, to me, particularly attractive...

Re: Direct to Edit Cameras
JVC HMs shoot .mov Straight off the card into FCP, I know no better for that workflow.

Any camera!
As long as it has a firewire output... just attach a Focus FS-H200 or similar DTE recorder and record straight to .mov.

Re: Direct to Edit Cameras
Or get any good camera with HDMI or HD-SDI and record to an Aja Ki Pro Mini which records to Pro Res.

Re: Direct to Edit Cameras
How about DVCPROHD from a HVX200/HPX170? L&T step, but quick.
Or solve it on the software side with something like MXF4mac |
