Damn. I feel guilty.
I mean, I'm part of the "digital revolution." I don't shoot film for motion pictures. I can't afford it, especially for what I do. And before cheap camcorders, I didn't do any kind of motion pictures at all, for that very reason. Not even super 8. But I did, and do, shoot film as a still photographer. It still can't be beat for what I do. And film keeps getting better and better, hard as that is to believe. Film, in the last decade, has become really, really good. It's an amazing engineering achievement. And we're now in the process of tossing it all away. And where cinema goes, still photography must follow. I know, I know, this is the way that technological progress works. And normally I'm fine with it. When the automobile industry finally gets to the point of offering an electric vehicle that works well and is affordable, I'll happily toss in my internal combustion engine. But this... this is *film*! Sigh... |
