Vlc/mts
Can I convert these VLC/MTS files so I can edit them in FCP? If so HOW? Do I need to convert them with another program first then import them into FCP?

There's some good information and a free converter here: How to convert MTS video on Mac OS and Snow leopard
Disclaimer: I'm a Premiere user, have not tried this myself. |

Soooo...if it converted the file (to .mov, to be specific) it should import into fcp. Did it not work?
