Necessity is a mother. Or...pimp my cam
I frequently tape auto racing- SCCA, and NHRA, and do a lot radio controled airplane filming.
I sold my XHA1 a few weeks ago and bought a Canon HF-S200 and a T2i. In my eye, the S200 puts out a picture as good as the A1, but you lose all the manual dials and features. One change I wasn't used to was chasing fast moving subjects with an LCD screen. With no viewfinder it's a royal pain. I spent a few hours in the shop machining a hot shoe to gun sight rail adapter and came up with a solution that works. If anyone here is a firearms shooter, you might be familiar with TrueGlo Red Dot sight. Products and Services | TRUGLO, Inc. Took 30 seconds to dial it in. Now I just pre-set my zoom with what I know will fit in the frame, and track away. |
