Need suggestions on an in car camera?

I need a small camera for some in car driving shots. Also this camera would be mounted around the car for those low, high, under car shots. Any suggestions?

At first I thought of a GOPRO but I really want something that has a screen so I can frame the shot and also I want to use an SDHC card.

Thanks

It's a little expensive, but have you considered the Sony HXR-MC1? It's got a screen and control unit attached to the main lens box with a 3 metre cable and looks just the ticket for that sort of thing. I seriously contemplated buying one a short while ago but ended up with a JVC HM100 for more general use (it gets strapped to a car too, but also acts as a more general second camera to my HM 700).

Thanks Hamish,

Good looking camera and should do the trick but It's a bita more than I want to pay.
I might look at some of the small consumer cams around the $1000 mark or less.

Thanks

I use 3 GoPro cameras mounted to my Ferrari all the time.
They work great when you can't mount full size cameras at speed.

All he Best!

Do you not find the rolling shutter on the Go Pro a bit offputting for 'in car' filming?

I was thinking of the 'jello' effect, as shows up in this clip: YouTube - GoPro HD Hero rolling shutter problem

No where near as bad as some other examples I've seen -especially with the earlier Canon HV models, for example - but not good with these 'high vibration' situations.

CCD cameras might still be better for this kind of shooting. Not easy to find these days though!
