If you use a laptop with DVRack you can see the full frame. As well, I think the Sony Vegas capture utility shows the full frame too.
Some viewfinders and flip-out LCDs show the full frame... and others don't. |

From what I've read, almost none of the viewfinders an LCD's on our prosumer cameras underscan. In fact, the only one that I think offers this is the Z-1 via a menu selection.
On the Mac you could use BTV Pro to see the full frame, it's inexpensive shareware and has lots of other useful functions as well. I sort of doubt you'll find any sort of inexpensive box to to reduce the frame size for your monitor however, if such a thing exists it would probably cost nearly as much as a new monitor. If you're using a TV set you could try entering service mode and changing the scan size. I've done this on a Sony set and it helped but still didn't quite show the whole frame. See the instructions here, but also heed the cautions! http://myweb.accessus.net/~090/how2adj.html#5 |

Mo, you just never know what's out there ...
If you run across an inline or other such useful gadget, will you post your findings here? |
