The other day my JVC DV500 started acting screwy. I loaded a tape in, it took it, but then stopped responding. Now the camera powers on with full camera functions seemingly ok, but the tape will not eject and the camera will not power down. It's as if the whole back end does not work. The display screen on the side of the cam takes a while to display any info when I turn the camera on and the VTR mechanisms never engage like the usually would. At the same time, all the switches on the front end work fine... w/b, zebras, shutter dial, gain all work except for the VTR record.
So of course, now I am trying to find the best option for getting it diagnosed and serviced. I was hoping to find something local, within reasonable driving distance from Rhode Island, but I'm coming up empty. Suggestions? If not, I'll have to ship it out... I've heard good things about Armato's in NY, any other places I should look into? |

Video One Repair treated me nice recently. I pitted the lens on my FX-1 and they replaced it for 600 bucks. Nice folks. Quick turn around.
