Does anyone know what format "The Wire" is shot on?

35mm.
Aren't all HBO series shot on 35mm?

Curb Your Enthusiasm is shot on DVCAM...with the XL1s.
But The Wire is shot on Super 16mm. Cheaper than 35mm, but able to get the look they need. |

That would be a good trick, because the XL1 does not produce DVCAM.

Is there a place to know for sure whether it was Super16 or 35mm? I just searched and searched until I found an interview where it said 35mm. They could have been wrong ...

Ooo...maybe they switched to 35mm. I had a buddy who worked on the pilot and that was shot on super 16mm.
Maybe it was just the pilot... |
