Panasonic PV-GS400 vs. Sony DCRTRV950 or HC1000
I plan to do some filming in a very rural area of India late next month and hope to be able to put some of it on TV. For it, I have been reading everything I can find on mini DV camcorders. The Panasonic PV-GS400 and the Sony DCRTRV950 (if I can find one under $1,000) are the two that seem best within my budget. I was thinking fo the HC1000, but the reivews have been mixed. What do you think? I would appreciate any thoughts by you knowledgeable folks out there.
Thanx much, Ramdas

Either the GS400 or the 950 would be fine. Can you get the GS400 for under a grand? I thought it was a bit more than that.

Shawn, thanx for the reply. I have seen the GS400 at several online stores for under $1,000. One even had it for $799, but it did not seem very dependable.
thanx again, rd

Watch out from scam online stores. Some search in this site can save lots of money.

Right. Stick with authorized dealers. You will pay more, and you will take no chances in being ripped off. I think it's a fine trade-off, myself. Supporting our sponsors is also good!
