Reality TV Shows
Myself and the guys I live and work with have been thinking about this premise for a reality TV show.. Which I can go into if anyone is interested.... But my main question is - Does anyone here have experience with reality TV, how it is filmed?, What kind of camera crew do they have?
I figure a lot of them mount cameras around a house or something which we may be able to do some of, but mostly it would be one or two guys who just always have a camera with them... I would love to pick anyone's brain who works for one of these shows or knows someone who knows someone who works for one of these shows.... By the way, I'm pretty new here and so far I like this forum a lot, Raus |

Off the top of my head, there are two setups I can think of.
The first is when shooting interiors. One or two mounted cameras (CCTV?) per room, fed into a mixer and recorded by some kind of TD, or left on constant record (although that would eat up a lot of HDD space/tape). For that setup, you would need a lot of general light for daytime, and IR recording for night. You would also have 2 or 3 guys going handheld (you could probably get away with PD170's or DVX100's at the low end of the price spectrum, maybe even lower models). Then you could have a dedicated "diary cam" in some walk-in closet for participants/contestants to go bitch about everybody else. The other setup is for exteriors which is just all handheld, but then you should pony up for better cams because you'll be in uneven and uncontrollable lighting environment. This is really all dependent on your format though. |
