Sony DV

Look at this:

Why is it that so many of these films used Sony camera's? This is pure speculation, but does it have anything to do with Sony's marketing campaigns? maybe they are aimed very much at Europe?

It's called "market penetration" (there's a visual for you).

Sony had the dominant market share at that time and it that list you're linking to shows it. Compile a similar list for 2004 and the majority of entries will reference the Panasonic DVX100 or 100A.
