Composite Connector on DV cams
A friend has asked me for advice on a helmet camera he wants to buy. They offer both a hi-res and a low-res version. The hi has a 480 line CCD and the low is 360. This bullet style of camera plugs into the composite input on a regular DV camera.
Isn't the composite input VHS quality and only 300 lines resolution, if that? If that is the case, it wouldn't make much difference whether he goes with the hi-res or the low-res. I want to make sure before I give him my recommendation. You can view the camera's here: http://www.helmetcamera.com/ Greg |

Ampex Quad and D3 are composite formats. You can't always think composite = poor quality. Also, it doesn't state wether those lines are horizontal or vertical, but I'd go with the high rez one - shouldn't be limited by the composite input on the DV deck which will handle it no bother at all.
