How to do effects from this short film?

Not sure if this is a forum for this question, but I was wondering how this one film maker was able to do some of these special effects.
On ifilm.com, there is a short movie based on the Star Wars saga.

This first time film maker was able to do some very cool things. One of them was where he had the bounty hunter turn invisible, like the Predator, where you only see a faint outline of him. He had some other cool effects, but I figure he must know CGI or something to be able to do those. But that Predator effect was what I was trying to figure out how to do.
Any ideas?

You will need to create a "displacement mask" in a compositing programme such as After Effects or Commotion. If you do a Google search for "predator video effect" you'll find out exactly how to do it. Try this link anyway: http://www.wrigleyvideo.com/forum/in...=0&#entry41191
