What is considered - low light

Canon GL2 versus Sony DCR-VX2100. I shoot a DSLR and for my using iso 3200 at f2.8 to get 1/500 shutter for fast sports is low light. Many say the DCR-VX2100 is far better than GL2 for low light. Is low light considered a typical high school gym or one candle on a kitchen table at night?

Thanks,

Jim

James,

The floor of most gyms is not low light if it's the normal lighting for a bball game etc.

Examples of low light would be: Wedding receptions with lights dimmed, outdoors at night with minimal additional light, things like that.

Rob - thanks ...

I prefer to get the Canon as I like to ahve to 20x IS zoom but would go for the Sony if it was neccessary for indoor sports and the like. Thanks - saved me at least $500.
