Having problem PRINTING TO TAPE from FCP6 to Canon Camcorders
Hey, guys.
I'm trying to dump out some projects I have on FCP6 onto mini-dv tapes. I've never used the PRINT TO TAPE function before, but it seems simple enough. Or so I thought. I've tried doing this with both a Canon XL2 and a consumer level Canon ZR950, and have the same problem with both, so I think there's just some kind of incorrect setting I'm overlooking. The PROBLEM is that I'm not getting any playback image to come up on my camcorders. Just the blue screen, so even if the file is playing back on FCP, there's nothing for me to record. The computer is reading the cameras (hooked up via firewire). I set them to PLAY or VCR mode, and the LCD's indicate "DV-IN", so I would think I'd be good to go, but this isn't the case. The projects in FCP are fully rendered, and much of the footage was shot with the very XL-2 I'm trying to dump out to. So far as I know, the settings are a-okay in FCP, so I'm guessing there's some setting in the camcorders I'm overlooking. Any ideas? |

I don't know anything about Canons, but with my Sonys there's an obscure setting in the menus called REC CTRL that allows your NLE to control the recording functions of the cam, that has to be set to "on." Maybe there's something similar for yours...
